Welcome to The Spotter!
My name is Nolan Vannata. I’m a fitness and nutrition coach that helps busy professionals lose weight and have more energy in their daily lives.
This newsletter provides simple, realistic strategies for you to lose weight and get strong so you can look and feel your best.
If you forget to brush your teeth one night, you might as well skip the next several days.
If you get a flat tire, you can’t drive as well, so you should probably go ahead and slash the other three.
Sounds crazy, right? Yet, we tend to do this with our fitness and nutrition plans. We have set standards for what is worth doing.
If you go 500 calories over your target on Friday, might as well go nuts for the weekend and get back on track on Monday! Are you too busy or tired for the 45-minute workout you planned? 0 minutes it is. If you need to order takeout, it should probably be a massive 1,400 calorie meal because you can’t have a nutritious home cooked meal.
Instead of having an on/off switch, you need a dimmer switch (hopefully now the picture for the article makes sense).
Let go of the standards!
This all-or-nothing mindset is very common with people who have performed very well in other areas of their life (usually their job, school, or a sport). You might catch yourself thinking, “If I can’t do it to a high standard, I won’t do it at all.”
Learn to order “good enough” takeout options, do 15-20-minute workouts, and take more “just okay” actions.
This isn’t about settling for less. In fact, the all-or-nothing mindset is more likely to do that. This is about showing up and keeping your priorities despite having less time, energy, or willpower on specific days or weeks.
If this resonates with you, consider working with me as your coach.
I help busy professionals lose fat and get fit with time-friendly fitness and nutrition plans so they can have long term weight loss success and more energy in their daily lives without constantly preparing food or spending hours exercising.
I customize your entire fitness and nutrition plan. On top of this, I offer daily (unlimited) communication, so you can get maximum feedback and support from a coach.
